Schools increasingly face challenges when internal staff members are required to investigate misconduct or manage disciplinary hearings—particularly where matters are serious, sensitive, or involve potential conflicts of interest. At the same time, SMT members are under significant operational pressure. I provide a neutral, experienced, and professional service that assists schools in managing these processes fairly, efficiently, and in full compliance with legislative and departmental requirements.

We are able to assist schools with the following:

  • Independent investigations into learner misconduct
  • Fact-finding processes and structured evidence gathering
  • Taking, analysing, and compiling witness statements
  • Reviewing documentary evidence
  • Drafting legally compliant charge sheets and substantiated recommendations
  • Presenting cases at learner disciplinary hearings
  • Chairing disciplinary hearings where an independent presiding officer is required
  • Guiding SGB Disciplinary Committees to ensure procedural fairness, consistency, and compliance
  • Drafting professional investigation and outcome reports aligned with WCED requirements
  • Preparation of comprehensive, procedurally compliant documentation and formal motivation in cases where the SGB recommends learner expulsion, for submission to the Head of Department for approval
  • General advisory support on disciplinary processes and risk management
